Latvia: Economic sentiment deteriorates in October
Latest reading: Economic sentiment came in at 98.0 in October, down from September’s 98.4. As a result, the index remained below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected weaker confidence in the services sector and among consumers. That said, October marked stronger sentiment in the industrial and construction sectors. Sentiment in the retail sector also improved in the surveyed month.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index increased in October.
