Latvia: Harmonized inflation rises to over one-year high in February
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation increased to 3.7% in February from January’s 3.1% and marked the highest inflation rate since August 2023. The uptick was primarily driven by increasing prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages, and a rebound in price pressures for housing and utilities.
The trend pointed up, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 1.8% in February (January: 1.5%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 3.7% in February from January’s 3.0%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.74% in February over the previous month, picking up from the 0.48% rise seen in January. February’s result was the highest reading since March 2024.
