Luxembourg: Harmonized inflation ticks up in January
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation increased to 2.4% in January, above December’s 1.6%. January’s figure marked the highest inflation rate since July 2024. Housing and utilities costs increased for the first time in five months, and transportation prices rose for the first time in half a year. Additionally, price growth for food strengthened.
The trend pointed down mildly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 2.2% in January (December: 2.3%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 1.9% in January from December’s 1.0%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.32% in January over the previous month, accelerating from the 0.12% rise logged in December. January’s figure was the highest reading since August 2024.
