Malaysia: Industrial output accelerates in December
Latest reading: Industrial output increased 4.6% year on year in December (November: +3.6% yoy). The result marked the best reading since July. December’s reading was largely due to faster growth in manufacturing. In addition, mining and quarrying production rebounded.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, factory output fell 0.5% in December (November: +1.0% mom). Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth rose to 3.8% in December (November: +3.4%), signaling an improving trend in the industrial sector.
