Malaysia: Inflation eases to lowest level since January in December

Latest reading: Inflation waned to 1.7% in December, from November’s 1.8%. December’s result represented the lowest inflation rate since January. The downtick was primarily driven by softer price pressures for services, which outweighed stronger price growth for food plus persistent cost rises for transport plus housing and utilities.

Annual average inflation was unchanged at November’s 1.8% in December.

Finally, consumer prices increased a seasonally adjusted 0.08% in December over the previous month, contrasting November’s 0.07% drop.
