Malaysia: Inflation declines in February
Latest reading: Inflation inched down to 1.5% in February, easing slightly from January’s 1.7%. February’s reading marked the weakest inflation rate since January 2024. Price pressures for housing and utilities plus transport softened, while price growth for food remained broadly unchanged.
The trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 1.8% in February (January: 1.9%).
Finally, consumer prices increased 0.37% in February over the previous month, picking up from the 0.15% rise recorded in January. February’s result marked the highest reading since February 2024.
