Netherlands: Economic sentiment eases in January
Latest reading: Economic sentiment fell to 99.6 in January from December’s 100.4. As a result, the index dipped below the long-term average of 100, pointing to a muted near-term outlook for the economy.
The headline print reflected deteriorating confidence in the services sector and among consumers, as well as cooling sentiment in the retail sector. That said, January marked stronger sentiment in the industrial and construction sectors.
Considering indicators that are not used to calculate the index, employment expectations improved, while the economic uncertainty index rose in January.
