Netherlands: Harmonized inflation stable in September
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation was stable at August’s 3.3% in September. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose at a faster rate in September. However, prices for transportation dropped after growing in the previous month. Meanwhile, housing and utilities prices were broadly stable.
The trend pointed up, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 2.4% in September (August: 2.1%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation edged down to 3.5% in September from August’s 3.6%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices dropped 0.90% over the previous month in September, contrasting the 0.37% rise recorded in August. September’s result marked the weakest reading since November 2023.
