Panama: Economic activity growth softens in February
Latest reading: Economic activity expanded 5.0% in year-on-year terms in February, which was a deterioration from January’s 6.7% increase. Looking at the details of the release, strong growth was recorded in the transport, commercial, financial, industrial, agricultural and fishing industries, while the construction sector experienced a drop as a result of falling construction permit values.
Still, the trend pointed up, with annual average growth of economic activity improving slightly to 4.1% in February, up from January’s 3.8%.
