Panama: Consumer prices fall at softer pace in February
Latest reading: Consumer prices fell 0.1% year-on-year in February, softening slightly from January’s 0.2% year-on-year decline and marking the highest figure since August 2024. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food rose at the quickest pace in over a year, outweighing steeper declines in prices for housing and utilities plus transport.
The trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 0.4% in February (January: 0.6%).
Lastly, consumer prices increased 0.38% in February over the previous month, accelerating from January’s 0.26% increase. February’s uptick marked the highest reading since January 2023.
