Panama: Consumer prices continue to decline in November
Latest reading: Consumer prices declined by 0.3% year on year for the third consecutive month in November. The result represented the joint-largest fall in consumer prices since June 2023. Looking at the details of the release, food prices declined at a sharper rate, housing and energy price growth was stable, and transport costs fell at a softer pace.
The trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 0.9% in November (October: 1.1%).
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.05% in November over the previous month, swinging from the 0.20% fall seen in October. November’s result marked the sharpest increase in prices since April.
