Panama: Consumer prices decline again in October
Latest reading: Consumer prices fell 0.3% year-on-year in October, matching September’s result. October’s reading marked the joint-largest fall in consumer prices since June 2023. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food declined at a steeper pace compared to September, while housing and energy prices rose at a quicker pace and transport costs fell less than in the prior month.
Annual average inflation fell to 1.1% in October (September: 1.3%).
Lastly, consumer prices dropped 0.20% from the previous month in October, a more moderate fall than the 0.48% drop recorded in September.
