Philippines: Inflation cools in September
Latest reading: Inflation fell to 1.9% in September, below August’s 3.3%. September’s result marked the weakest inflation rate since May 2020. The decline was broad-based, with reduced price pressures recorded for food, textiles, and housing and utilities. Moreover, prices for transport dropped.
In addition, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 3.7% in September (August: 4.0%).
Lastly, consumer prices fell a seasonally adjusted 0.09% in September over the previous month, broadly stable from the 0.08% fall seen in August. September’s result marked the weakest reading since January.
