Poland: Decline in industrial activity softens in September
Latest reading: Industrial output fell 0.3% year on year in September, which was a less pronounced contraction than August’s 1.2% decrease. Looking at the details of the release, manufacturing output contracted at a more moderate pace, and electricity, gas and utilities production expanded. Less positively, mining and quarrying production plummeted in September.
On a monthly basis, industrial output declined 0.1% in seasonally adjusted terms in September, a less pronounced than August’s 0.8% fall. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth rose to 1.8% in September (August: +0.5%), signaling an improving trend in the industrial sector.
