Poland: Retail sales growth gains steam in November
Latest reading: Retail sales rose 3.1% year on year in November, which was above October’s 1.6% increase. Looking at the details of the release, motor vehicles, sales of both fuel and motorcycles and parts gained traction in November, while food, beverages and tobacco sales contracted at a softer pace than in the prior month. Meanwhile, the decline in textiles, clothing and footwear sales worsened from October.
On a monthly basis, retail sales rose 1.0% in seasonally adjusted terms in November, which was well below October’s 5.6% expansion. Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth rose to 3.7% in November (October: +3.6%). This signals an improving trend in the retail trade sector.
