Poland: Retail sales bounce back in October
Latest reading: Retail sales expanded 1.6% year on year in October (September: -2.9% yoy). The reading was largely due to faster growth in motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts sales. Additionally, food, beverages and tobacco sales declined at a softer pace than in September. In contrast, textiles, clothing and footwear sales fell. Lastly, fuel sales declined at a sharper rate.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail sales rose 5.6% in October (September: -6.7% mom), the best result since May 2021. Meanwhile, annual average retail sales growth fell to 3.6% in October (September: +3.8%), signaling a worsening trend in the retail trade sector.
