Romania: Industrial activity dips in February
Latest reading: Industrial output dropped 2.1% in month-on-month seasonally and calendar-adjusted terms in February, contrasting January’s 2.2% increase. The result marked the worst reading since July 2024. February’s figure was driven by a deterioration in manufacturing production. In addition, mining and quarrying output weakened. That said, energy supply improved.
On an annual seasonally and calendar-adjusted basis, industrial production declined 3.2% in February, contrasting January’s 2.2% expansion. Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 1.3% in February, down from January’s minus 1.2%.
