Serbia: Inflation ticks down in September
Latest reading: Inflation came in at 4.2% in September, down from August’s 4.3%. Looking at the details of the release, prices for transportation dropped after rising in the previous month. Moreover, price pressures for clothing and footwear softened. That said, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages rose at a faster rate in September.
Annual average inflation fell to 5.6% in September (August: 6.0%). Meanwhile, core inflation ticked up to 5.3% in September from August’s 5.2%.
Finally, consumer prices rose 0.14% over the previous month in September, coming in below the 0.40% rise recorded in August. September’s result marked the weakest reading since June.
