Slovenia: Harmonized inflation comes in at highest level since May in December
Latest reading: Harmonized inflation rose to 2.0% in December from November’s 1.6%, marking the highest inflation rate since May. Looking at the details of the release, the upturn reflected stronger price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages. Moreover, prices for transportation plus housing and utilities returned to growth following the previous month’s decline. That said, prices for recreation grew at a more subdued pace.
The trend pointed down slightly, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at 2.0% in December (November: 2.1%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 1.9% in December from the previous month’s 1.7%.
Lastly, harmonized consumer prices fell 0.10% from the previous month in December, swinging from November’s 0.70% increase.
