South Africa: Inflation increases in November
Latest reading: Inflation came in at 2.9% in November, up from October’s 2.8%. Looking at the details of the release, transportation prices fell at a more moderate pace in November compared to the previous month, while price pressures for food and non-alcoholic beverages eased.
The trend pointed down slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 4.6% in November (October: 4.8%). Meanwhile, core inflation edged down to 3.7% in November from October’s 3.9%.
Finally, consumer prices were unchanged in November over the previous month, following the 0.09% drop recorded in October.
