Spain: Current account records larger surplus in October
Latest reading: The current account posted a EUR 4.9 billion surplus in October, improving from the EUR 3.6 billion surplus clocked in September (October 2023: EUR 3.1 billion surplus). Meanwhile, the 12-month trailing current account surplus improved, coming in at EUR 51.5 billion in October (September: EUR 49.6 billion surplus).
The merchandise trade balance deteriorated from the previous month, recording a EUR 3.9 billion deficit in October (September 2024: EUR 3.3 billion deficit). Merchandise exports climbed 9.3% on an annual basis in October (September: +1.9% year-on-year). Meanwhile, merchandise imports expanded 4.8% over the same month last year in October (September: +0.1% yoy).
