Spain: Harmonized inflation comes in at highest level since July in December

Latest reading: Harmonized inflation increased to 2.8% in December, following November’s 2.4%. December’s result represented the highest inflation rate since July. The pick-up was broad-based, with greater price pressures recorded for food and non-alcoholic beverages, transportation, and housing and utilities.

The trend was unchanged, with annual average harmonized inflation coming in at November’s 2.9% in December. Meanwhile, consumer price inflation rose to 2.8% in December from the previous month’s 2.4%.

Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.44% in December over the previous month, picking up from November’s 0.03% increase. December’s result marked the highest reading since April.
