Sweden: Industrial output skyrockets in December

Latest reading: Industrial output—excluding energy—surged at the fastest pace since April 2023 in December, clocking a 5.7% month-on-month seasonally and calendar-adjusted upturn and improving from November’s 2.4% print. Looking at the details of the release, growth in manufacturing output jumped, and the mining and quarrying sector gained steam.

On an annual basis, industrial output skyrocketed 8.7% in calendar-adjusted terms in December, improving from November’s 2.8% rise and marking the fastest increase since July 2022. As a result, the trend pointed up, with the annual average variation of industrial production coming in at minus 0.6%, above November’s minus 1.2% reading.
