Switzerland: Inflation drops in December
Latest reading: Inflation came in at 0.6% in December, which was down from November’s 0.7% and in line with market expectations. The result was mild compared to neighbors—Euro area inflation clocked 2.4% in December—thanks to Switzerland’s ingrained low inflation expectations and comparatively limited wage growth. Annual average inflation fell to 1.1% in December (November: 1.2%). Meanwhile, core inflation fell to 0.7% in December from the previous month’s 0.9%.
Finally, consumer prices fell 0.05% over the previous month in December, a less pronounced decrease than the 0.13% drop recorded in November.
