Taiwan: Industrial output records quickest growth since June 2021 in December
Latest reading: Industrial output rose 20.0% in year-on-year terms in December, which was above November’s 10.2% increase. December’s result marked the best reading since June 2021. Looking at the details of the release, December’s pickup was broad-based, with the manufacturing, electricity and gas supply and water supply sub-sectors all gaining steam.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production rose at a quicker rate of 4.8% in December (November: +2.9% mom), the best result since May. Meanwhile, the trend improved significantly, with the annual average growth of industrial production coming in at 11.4% in December, up from November’s 9.3% reading.
