Taiwan: Industrial output records lowest expansion since March in October
Latest reading: Industrial output increased 8.8% in year-on-year terms in October, which followed September’s 11.2% increase. The result marked the worst reading since March, though the slowdown was largely due to a higher base of comparison. Looking at subsectors, softer manufacturing growth and a contraction in mining led the slowdown.
On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, factory output fell 1.3% in October (September: +0.1% mom).
The bigger picture is still one of an industrial sector which is growing strongly in annual terms, underpinned by rising demand for AI.
