Taiwan: Inflation falls to lowest level since March 2021 in October
Latest reading: Inflation ticked down to 1.7% in October following September’s 1.8%. October’s reading marked the lowest inflation rate since March 2021. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food rose at a weaker pace in October and transportation prices declined at a quicker pace.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 2.3% in October (September: 2.4%).
Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.25% in October over the previous month, picking up from the 0.11% increase seen in September.
Outlook: Recent mild price pressures are expected to continue going forward, which should give the Central Bank space to continue its monetary easing cycle next year.
