Thailand: Decline in manufacturing production softens in December
Latest reading: Manufacturing output dropped 2.1% year on year in December (November: -3.4% yoy). The reading reflected improving production in the food, automotive vehicles and chemical products sub-sectors plus a softer fall in computer and electronic products output. That said, output of refined petroleum products dropped at a sharper rate.
On a monthly basis, manufacturing production fell 0.5% in seasonally adjusted terms in December, a softer drop than November’s 2.0% fall. Meanwhile, the trend improved slightly, with the annual average variation of manufacturing production coming in at an over one-year high of minus 1.8%, up from November’s minus 2.0%.
