Thailand: Inflation increases in September
Latest reading: Inflation came in at 0.6% in September, which was up from August’s 0.4%. Looking at the details of the release, food prices rose at a faster pace than in August and price pressures for housing and utilities rebounded. That said, transportation prices fell at a quicker pace.
The annual average variation of consumer prices was flat in September, matching August’s reading. Meanwhile, core inflation ticked up to 0.8% in September from August’s 0.6%.
Lastly, consumer prices dropped 0.10% from the previous month in September, contrasting the 0.07% increase seen in August. September’s result marked the lowest reading since June.
