Thailand: Merchandise exports accelerate in October
Latest reading: Merchandise exports jumped 14.0% over the same month last year in October (September: +1.2% year-on-year). Meanwhile, merchandise imports climbed 16.9% over the same month last year in October (September: +9.7% yoy), marking the strongest result since September 2022.
As a result, the merchandise trade balance deteriorated from the previous month, recording a USD 1.4 billion surplus in October (September 2024: USD 2.5 billion surplus; October 2023: USD 1.8 billion surplus). Lastly, the trend deteriorated, with the 12-month trailing merchandise trade balance recording a USD 17.5 billion surplus in October, compared to the USD 17.8 billion surplus in September.
