Turkey: Industrial activity dips in August
Latest reading: Industrial output slid 1.6% in month-on-month seasonally adjusted terms in August, which contrasted July’s 0.4% increase. The reading reflected a broad-based downturn across the major sectors, with manufacturing, mining and quarrying and energy all contracting in August.
On an annual basis, factory output dove 5.3% in August, which was below July’s 3.9% fall and marking the worst result since February 2023. Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth fell to 1.0% in August (July: +1.8%), which marked a one-year low.
