Vietnam: Industrial output records slowest expansion since April in October
Latest reading: Industrial output growth slowed to 7.0% year on year in October (September: +10.8% yoy), marking the worst reading since April. The deceleration was mainly due to milder growth in manufacturing output and a sharper contraction in mining and quarrying output. Moreover, electricity and water supply expanded at a slower pace. October’s result likely reflected the delayed effects of Typhoon Yagi, which caused widespread power outages and the destruction of infrastructure.
Meanwhile, annual average industrial production growth rose to 7.7% in October (September: +7.4%), signaling an improving trend in the industrial sector.
